The Concept2 Skinny paddle tubes are made of high modulus carbon fiber, so they have a smaller diameter compared to the ultralight paddle tube, thus providing a softer feel. Due to the small diameter, air resistance is also reduced, which can be even more significant in headwinds. The thin tubes weigh the same as the Ultralight tubes.
The Comp combines the best elements of the current Concept2 paddle pen designs: it results in a light, efficient and stable pen. Comp ensures stable water grip and results in dynamic acceleration until the moment of release. At the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, seven teams won medals with Comp paddles (2 gold, 2 silver, 3 bronze).
Feather Width and Vortex Edge are the two most important feather characteristics that contribute to boat speed. The Comp pen has a small surface area, resulting in a lighter, efficient pen that provides easy release.
The Comp is a short, wide feather that provides a very stable foot push/strike, which contributes to confident power output and overall comfort. The "weight in hand" or "swing weight" is lighter than paddles with larger feathers, saving the rider energy and allowing for a higher stroke rate.
The upper edge of the blade is bevelled.
The Vortex Edge is glued to the end of the blade.
